Each year, the class celebrating its 50th reunion makes a sizable donation to the university. This year, the Class of 1963 donated $163,000. The class gift was presented at the annual alumni dinner held during Homecoming weekend.
Class of ‘63 members Dr. Edward J. Meaney and Mae Doherty presented the check to Dr. Brenda Molife, vice president for university advancement.
The amount was raised over a five-year period by class members in honor of the 50th anniversary of their graduation from Bridgewater.
Dr. Meaney announced at the Class of 1963 reunion dinner that the amount on the large check had to be increased at the last minute. "Within the past 24 hours an anonymous donor contributed an extra $4,000 so that our gift would be $163,000.00, in keeping with the fact that we are the Class of '63," he said.
More than 70 class members and spouses attended the dinner, held in the Campus Center Ballroom.
