Tutoring Central is located in the Academic Achievement Center on the ground floor of Maxwell Library. If you're looking for help with one of your classes, or would like to become a tutor, you have come to the right place! Tutoring Central is staffed by veteran, trained, practiced Tutoring Central Liaisons who are here to help with student, tutor, and staff relations, answer questions you may have, or refer you to staff who can. A Tutorial Coordinator and professional staff member supervise Tutoring Central and are involved in the day-to-day operations of helping students become successful.
Tutoring is the process by which a tutor assists a student to become an independent learner through the masterful weaving of learning and study strategies specific to the course in question. Students remain the key element in their own success and are coached and guided to greater understanding through consistent work with their tutor. The empowerment of students as successful learners is the primary goal of Tutoring Central's mission. Tutoring Central provides tutors in many of the CORE curriculum courses and in some beginning level courses within a major.
