Mission and Values

The Division of Administration and Finance supports the mission of Bridgewater State University by serving the university community through the management of the financial, human and physical resources of the university. The Division is committed to providing these services through effective communication, management assistance and administrative services.

General Information

The vice president for Administration and Finance provides the administrative leadership required to efficiently direct and supervise all business, financial and administrative services for the university. The office maintains responsibility for the preparation of all budgets. It directs budgetary controls for the disbursement, accounting, and auditing of all monies of the university. The office also maintains a system of financial and related statistical reporting.

Under his direction, the office provides professional leadership in the recruitment, maintenance, and development of university personnel and the development and implementation of programs for the maintenance and improvement of the physical plant operation.

More specifically, the vice president for Administration and Finance directs and supervises the following: Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Planning, Director of Administrative Support Services and Coordinator of Institutional Travel.

Does the university close due to inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, the vice president for administration and finance will be responsible for the final decision to close the university. Announcement is available by 5:30 a.m. for day cancellations and delayed openings and 2:00 p.m. for evening classes. Call (508) 531-1777 for updates. When is a student eligible for in-state tuition?
It is the responsibility of the student to prove whether he/she is eligible for in-state tuition. The Board of Higher Education has guidelines that Bridgewater State University must adhere to.

If I need to renovate my office, whom do I talk to?
In order to renovate your office, you must complete Sections 1 and 2 of the Project Request Form (available in the Facilities Management and Planning Department) and obtain your supervisor's signature as well as your area vice president's signature. The form is then submitted to the Facilities Management and Planning Department for completion of Sections 3, 4 and 5. The associate vice president and vice president for administration and finance will then review the request and notify appropriate individuals of the decision.

Can I rent a car while traveling on university business?
The university only covers car rental for employees under special circumstances while traveling on university business. Request must be pre-approved by the vice president for administration and finance.

Can the university rent a car for position candidates while traveling to interviews?
The university only covers car rental under special circumstances for candidates during their interviews on campus. Request must be pre-approved by the vice president for administration and finance.

When can I serve food at university meetings?
The university covers food when the meeting/event involves an individual/agency from off-campus.

What is the process for purchasing equipment and furniture?
Any requests you have for equipment/furniture need to be forwarded to your area vice president who will compile a prioritized list for the division and approve purchases as funds are available.
