    Preventing Workplace Harassment with Martha Deering

    The office of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/Disability Compliance/Title IX proudly presents Martha Deering, Senior Consultant, clinician and trainer for The Wellness Corporation, who will be discussing the effects of and solutions to workplace harassment. 

     Harassment in the workplace leads to a multitude of undesirable results:  job turnover, absenteeism, low morale, reduced productivity, costly litigationÂ…, and the list goes on.  This program is designed to help employees, as well as supervisors, managers and other personnel to:

    Recognize differences between workplace harassment, sexual harassment, inappropriate conduct, and bullying

    Understand the impact of hostile environment and quid pro quo harassment on the individual and BSU

    Be aware of how our actions and behaviors affect co-workers

    Recognize and stop harassing behavior

    Prevent harassment in the workplace

    Understand how complaints are handled and investigated at BSU

    "Excuse me??!!" - Preventing Harassment and Discrimination on Campus with Hamish Blackman

    This engaging program educates managers and employees about harassment, discrimination and retaliation, as well as the necessity of a respectful work environment.  Over the course of the session we will explore what conduct constitutes sexual harassment and discrimination, as well as what happens if an employee violates the policy. 

    PLEASE NOTE:  This program is a great follow-up to the February 9th, 2012 training session. 
    However, February 9th training is NOT a pre-requisite to attend this seminar.
    You are encouraged to participate in one, the other or both!

    Explore real-life scenarios

    Learn what the law and your policies actually say and mean

    Title VII and Title IX

    Distinguish appropriate, casual behavior from inappropriate behavior

    Consider "gray areas" and determine the best course of action
