Problem Solving:
Physics Department at BSC
This rubric was used in a senior level course (Advanced Mechanics, Ph 459)
for an oral mid-term exam. Each student appeared before two evaluators: the
course instructor and another member of the department. Different members
of the department evaluated different students – each evaluated about
2 students usually on the same day. At the end of each exam, the professor
Tom Kling checked that both evaluators thought that each problem was roughly
the same level of difficulty, then looked at the grades given.
