  • Mr. John Benedetti and Richard Sola from Price Waterhouse Coopers were guest speakers in Prof. Mark Crowley's (Accounting & Finance) Accounting Seminar on April 15.  The speakers spoke on the topic of IFRS:  key differences, challenges, technical issues, and proposals that will impact financial reporting.
     

  • Students in Dr. Robert Wolk's (Management) sales and management class were privileged to hear Jose Alvarez, President/CEO of Stop & Shop/Giant Food.  The subject of his talk was branding.
     

  • Ellen McAvoy Boylen ('75) has joined the School of Business Advisory Board.  Ms. Boylen has worked in sales and marketing communications across a variety of disciplines.  With nearly 20 years at the Gillette Company and senior positions at Woolf Associates and Arnold Wolrdwide, she has both client and agency side experience.  As a vice president at Arnold, her leadership on the American Legacy Foundation's truth campaign merited a PMA Reggie Gold Award in 2002, and BRANDWEEK's Guerilla Marketing Campaign of the Year.  She holds a Masters Degree in Communications from and an MBA Boston University and a BS in Education from Bridgewater State College.
     

  • Students in Prof. Mark Crowley's (Accounting & Finance) accounting seminar, as well as students in accounting graduate courses, were privileged to hear Robert Sprague, Securities and Exchange Commission, Enforcement Division-Boston.  Mr. Sprague spoke on current reporting issues being investigated by the SEC.
     

  • Students in Prof. Mark Crowley's (Accounting & Finance) accounting seminar heard Mr. Paul Chisholm speak on Audit Committee Issues.  Mr. Chisholm is Chairman & CEO of Mindshift Technologies, Fairfax, Virginia and former President/CEO of COLT Telecom, London.

  • BSC Engages Banking Community's Expertise

    A group of regional banking executives shared breakfast - as well as their advice - with the president, administrators and members of Bridgewater State College's School of Management and Aviation Science to help the institution discover new ways to spur economic development in Southeastern Massachusetts.
     

  • Representatives from Enterprise Rent-a-Car and the town of Marshfield attended Dr. Shannon Donovan's Managerial Finance class May 3, 2006.  Dr. Donovan's students conducted research for Enterprise and for Marshfield and presented the results to their clients at this class meeting.
     
  • State Representative Steve Canessa, head of the House Transportation Committee, visited Dr. Helene Fine's (Management) graduate class, MGMT 527 Product Development Processes.  Students presented their findings on creating a flexible, mini, hybrid bus transportation system for the region.  The student team also presented their research at the graduate symposium in Westfield, earlier this semester.
     
  • Sean M. Kelly delivered a presentation on Enron to Dr. Patricia Bancroft's (Accounting) auditing class.  Mr. Kelly  is with Braver, P.C.

  • Business Development Associate, Quebec Government Office in Boston Visits Marketing Classes
    BSC business alumna Dinneen D. Grably spoke to marketing students in Principles of Marketing and in International Marketing.  Ms. Grably is Business Development Associate with the Quebec government office in Boston.  She spoke to students about career opportunities and international issues based on her knowledge with the Quebec delegation in Boston.  Ms. Grably earned an MBA in Grenoble, France.  Prior to earning an MBA, she worked for Secretary of State, Bill Galvin.
