Bridgewater Marketing Students Win Awards at International Collegiate Conference

BSC Marketing Students Win! BSC students Austin Awasung , Sema Bekiroglu, Andrea Catalano, Michael DeGagne, Laureanne DeMoura, Michelle Garcia, Lauren Hussey, Krystel Love, Luke MacLean, Jessica McCaffrey, Chris Norton, Kelly Oberg, Jen Peebles, Chandler Ruehrwein, Michael Scarlett, and Kate Walsh participated and competed at the American Marketing Association's 28th International Collegiate Conference in Orlando, Florida from March 23rd to the 25th.

In the Exhibit Competition, BSC won the "Student Choice Award" from the other 1000 attending students for their "flip cup competition." Reebok International sponsored the BSC exhibit and provided RBK shirts to all participants. BSC students Awasung, Catalano, and McCaffrey worked with Reebok Performance Team member Lauren D'Angelo on developing the exhibit and shirt design.

Chris Norton and Chandler Ruehrwein were named finalists in the sales competition sponsored by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.  This is an all-day event in which individual student contestants use their consultative selling abilities to engage their customer in a conversation that demonstrates outstanding listening skills and results in the most professional route to selling their product or service.  Judges are Sales Executives from the Corporate Offices of the sponsor.

Sema Bekiroglu, Laureanne DeMoura, Michelle Garcia, Kelly Oberg, and Kate Walsh presented a leadership session entitled "Creating a Business".

At the final Awards Ceremony and Banquet for Academic Year 2005-06, held in the Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel on the Disney property in Orlando, with an audience of over 1,100, Chapter President Kate Walsh accepted the Chapter Planning Award, Vice President Chandler Ruehrwein accepted the Chapter Communication Award, and Vice President Michelle Garcia accepted the Chapter Professional Development Award. 

The American Marketing Association BSC Chapter is open to all students regardless of major.  Next year the conference will take place in New Orleans.  For more information check www.bridgew.edu/ama.
