
As Counseling Center staff, we are committed to promoting the personal growth and academic success of all BSU students. Clearly, we recognize that the college experience can be exciting and rewarding for most students. At the same time, it can also have its challenges and difficulties. Our entire staff is available to provide support and help to all students.
Philip Roberts, MS, LMHC, LADC, Clinical Director
Philip received his Masters Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from the University of Vermont in 1990. He has been working at the Counseling Center since 1994 as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. In addition to providing counseling to students, he also offers educational programming to the campus community, with a special interest in leading yoga workshops. Philip enjoys being a part of the dynamics of Bridgewater's vibrant academic community. One of his personal interests is the freedom of biking for exercise and relaxation.
Donna Schiavo, M.A., LMHC, Staff Counselor
Donna received her Master's Degree in Psychology from BSU and is a licensed mental health counselor. She has worked with adults, adolescents and families in a variety of treatment settings. Donna uses a client centered, humanistic approach to psychotherapy. Her professional interests include the psychology of art and creativity, dream work, death and dying, and narrative therapy.
Amy Call, LICSW Staff Counselor
Amy received her Masters in Psychology and Social Work from Boston University. Amy has had the privilege of working in college counseling dating back to her MSW internship. She has a flexible, supportive and respectful approach with students that encourages student growth, healing and resilience. Amy has a special interest in mindfulness practice, managing distress, and building strengths. She welcomes all students.
Stephen P. LaBran, Psy.D., Staff Psychologist
Dr. LaBran received his Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Salem State College and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology form MSPP. He completed his third and fourth year internships at the Brandeis University Psychological Counseling Center. He has 36 years of experience in community mental health and substance abuse treatment. Dr. LaBran utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and humanistic approaches to psychotherapy. His clinical interests are in the treatment of affective anxiety and substance abuse disorders. Personally, his interests are fishing, boating, sea kayaking, and generally being outdoors.
Jill Eklund, LICSW, Staff Counselor
Jill received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Simmons College and also has a Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent therapy from Smith College. She has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families regarding multiple life issues. Jill values learning from her clients and strives to provide a comfortable presence for clients to feel safe to explore their issues. She utilizes multiple treatment modalities in her work, however finds herself drawn to relational and attachment theories. During her personal hours, Jill enjoys time with her family, friends and pets.
Jenna Kauffman, Clinical Psychology Intern
Jenna is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Jenna has experience doing research pertaining to body image and exercise as well as a multitude of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and families in a variety of settings. Jenna aims to facilitate a positive and judgment-free environment where students may feel safe to express themselves both openly and honesty.
Jeremy Voss, Clinical Psychology Intern
Jeremy is a currently pursuing his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. He has previously completed internships with adolescent and child populations in the public schools and in camp programs. Jeremy has worked with at-risk youth, children with medical conditions, and in outdoor and experiential education settings. Professionally, his interests include work with adolescents and young adults around issues of anxiety, crisis de-escalation, and self-understanding. Personally, Jeremy enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.

Joan Corbett, Admin. Asst.
Joan Corbett joined the Counseling Center after working at the Student Accounts Office. She has been with BSU since 2009.
