Standard Desktop and Laptop Systems
Faculty receive a computer upon hiring at the college and are eligible to receive an upgrade periodically if they so desire. Standard hardware and software for new faculty are described at http://it.bridgew.edu/FacStaff.cfm. The support policy for hardware is at http://it.bridgew.edu/Policy/HardwareSupport.cfm.
Faculty may also purchase a notebook computer for personal use through the Dell discount agreement. See http://it.bridgew.edu/FacStaff/notebook/.
BSU has a license agreement which supplies the major Microsoft Office software for your office computer. The computer comes pre-loaded with the software. The license agreement also allows full-time faculty and librarians to load a copy of the licensed software onto their home computers. Contact the Help Desk at 2555 to obtain a CD for this purpose.
Faculty and librarians are eligible to receive a new computer periodically, if they choose to do so. They may choose a desktop or laptop. The computer replacement policy is at http://it.bridgew.edu/TeleComm/newcomp.cfm.
Computer support is available through telephone, e-mail, walk-in services, and the Web. A list of locations and contact information is at http://it.bridgew.edu/support/facsupport.cfm.
The college subscribes to the Sophos anti-virus system. Virus updates are automatically downloaded and installed on your machine when you are connected to the BSU network. These updates are critical for protection of your computer and the BSU system. For more information, see http://it.bridgew.edu/Security/. The college also installs the SpySweeper anti-spyware on BSU computers and retains spam-blocking services for e-mail.
