Back to VL Resource Guide home page

The performance of each unit employee is evaluated at the intervals and in the manner specified in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. You are entitled to review your performance evaluation form before it is placed in your personnel file. The employee may also respond in writing to the evaluation, and the response will also be included in the personnel file.

Student Evaluations

See the MSCA Contract regarding use of student evaluations in personnel actions.

Graduate and continuing education course evaluations are conducted by students in on-line format only. Students access the site at https://www.bridgew.edu/studentevaluations/.

Class Visitation and Evaluation by Chair

Department chairs may observe your teaching during your first year at Bridgewater and are required to evaluate your teaching during the semester in which you become a unit member (normally the third consecutive semester). After the initial evaluation, the chair of the department will evaluate every fourth section that you teach. For evening classes the department’s Continuing Education or Graduate Coordinator will carry out evaluations. The chair or the coordinator must consult with you about when to visit your classes.
