Institutional Research Activities
Institutional Research includes the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of core institutional data
to meet reporting requirements of agencies to which the College is accountable, such as the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (HEIRS II) and the U.S. Department of Education (IPEDS)
to provide cross-sectional and longitudinal data for decision-makers at all levels
to respond to external surveys such as Peterson's Guide
to answer ad hoc requests for information about the College (see Data Request Form).
Institutional Research examines the integrity of official institutional data to
ensure accuracy in all reporting and analyses conducted by the office.
Institutional Research
conducts analyses of institutional data
to examine complex aspects of the educational process, such as student retention
and equity issues.
Institutional Research produces the
BSC Factbook
annually along with standard reports of Department
Enrollment Trends, the
Common Data Set, and
BSC at a Glance.
