Institutional Research Activities

Institutional Research includes the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of core institutional data

  • to meet reporting requirements of agencies to which the College is accountable, such as the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (HEIRS II) and the U.S. Department of Education (IPEDS)

  • to provide cross-sectional and longitudinal data for decision-makers at all levels

  • to respond to external surveys such as Peterson's Guide

  • to answer ad hoc requests for information about the College (see Data Request Form).

Institutional Research examines the integrity of official institutional data to ensure accuracy in all reporting and analyses conducted by the office.

Institutional Research conducts analyses of institutional data to examine complex aspects of the educational process, such as student retention and equity issues.

Institutional Research produces the BSC Factbook annually along with standard reports of Department Enrollment Trends, the Common Data Set, and BSC at a Glance.
