Students in the Spanish major obtain knowledge of the Spanish language, linguistics, literatures, cultures and civilizations by taking a variety of required and optional courses, both on the BSU campus and by studying abroad. In addition, they improve their grammar and speaking abilities. Students graduating from the major must maintain a portfolio that highlights their accomplishments in the program. This portfolio serves to illustrate that the desired outcomes of the program have been met.
The mission of the Spanish program is to help students develop an in-depth understanding of foreign languages, literatures, linguistics, cultures, and civilizations through an array of courses. The program prepares students to be engaged international citizens who enlist foreign language skills and knowledge to succeed in a variety of careers and intellectual disciplines in an increasingly globalized world.
There are numerous career opportunities for students that graduate with a Spanish degree. Some examples include:
Teacher
Bilingual Consultant
