Faisal Alam, "Hidden Voices: The Lives of LGBT Muslims"

This presentation highlighted the many struggles and challenges facing sexual and gender minorities within the Muslim world and examined the complex intersection of Islam, sexuality and gender.

As part of our LGBT History Month celebrations, the  Rondileau Campus Center with the Pride Center, is running an exhibit the entire month of October. Each day, a different GLBT pioneer will be featured at BSU in an exhibit located in the Rondileau Campus Center and via the web video below. Visit the RCC exhibit and this page daily to learn about all 31 GLBT heroes of history.

Dave Pallone worked 18 years as a professional umpire; 10 of those years with the National Baseball League. As the third youngest umpire in baseball history, he demonstrated courage, professionalism and the ability to withstand adversity through many of baseball’s high profile and controversial events. He is the author of the 1990 New York Time’s best-selling autobiography, Behind the Mask: My Double Life in Baseball.

Robyn Ochs, "Beyond Binaries: Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum." She explored many questions including how we assign labels to our complicated and unique experiences, the relationship between experience and identity, and the question of the fluidity of identity versus fixed identity.  

With a mixture of humor and irrefutable logic, Dr. Corvino addressed arguments typically made against homosexuality.
