How to Nominate Someone for Recognition BSC Rewards & Recognition Program

Who is Eligible for a DRIVE Award?


ELIGIBILITY

Current BSU Classified and Administrative/Professional staff members are eligible for nomination. Full-time faculty members are not eligible but may nominate any eligible staff member for any award program. Part-time and temporary employees are not eligible to make a nomination or receive an award.


NOMINATION PROCESS: Nomination period is now closed.

The next nomination period begins February 2013.

The Drive Award Nomination Form must be used to describe the individual's or group's accomplishments and should indicate the reasons why the individual or group should be recognized. Paper nomination forms can also be obtained at the Office of Human Resources. All paper nomination forms must be submitted to Allison Pickup.


Who Can Be Nominated

  • An individual may be nominated by supervisors, peers or professional colleagues. A person may not be nominated by relatives or subordinates, nor may a person nominate himself or herself.
  • A group of employees may also be nominated by supervisors, peers or professional colleagues. If a group of employees receive a DRIVE Award, one award will be rewarded for the nominated group of employees. Please note: only those employees who meet the eligibility requirements will be recognized as part of the nominated group.

NOMINATION CATEGORIES

1. Community Involvement Award: The Community Involvement Award is for individuals who volunteer several hours of their time within the BSU community and/or surrounding community. These contributions are meritorious of recognition from the BSU campus community. While all employees are encouraged to participate and lead community activities, there are some that are especially noteworthy and deserve special recognition.


   Community Involvement Award Nominees must...

  • Have significantly impacted the college community and/or the surrounding community through volunteer service provided on or off-campus.

  • Examples of community involvement include:
    • Participating in the SERV (State Employees Responding as Volunteers) program
    • Mentoring Students Special Olympics
    • Hosting International students
    • Assisting during commencement
    • Assisting with student orientation program
    • Elderly services

2. Superior Accomplishment Award: The Superior Accomplishment Award is for performance resulting in exceptional contributions to improve a process and/or relationship either internally or externally of the university. This award is an excellent tool for recognizing teams as well as individuals.


   Superior Accomplishment Award Nominees must...

  • Have significantly improved current methods, procedures, or systems;
  • Have significantly improved public relations, employee relations, or student service;
  • Have significantly increased productivity or efficiency;
  • Have significantly improved internal or external communication;

3. Environmental and Safety Awareness Award: The Environmental and Safety Awareness Award is to given to individuals, teams or departments as an opportunity to recognize outstanding performance in improving job health and safety, overall environmental awareness in relation to the function of the university, responding to life threatening situations, and preventing and reducing the number of occupational injuries.


   Environmental and Safety Awareness Award Nominees must...

  • Contribute to the overall awareness and improvement of environment for students, faculty and staff;
  • Significantly reduced or eliminated cost, time, space, materials or supplies;
  • Significantly improved working conditions with respect to safety, health, or sanitation;
  • Have significantly improved environmental and energy savings.

4. Most Effective Team/Office Award: The Most Effective Team/Office Award is given to teams or offices whose initiatives, systems, processes or procedures make the operation better, faster, more effective for students, faculty and staff. This award seeks to recognize dynamic initiatives that have improved customer service.


   Most Effective Team/Office Award Nominees must...

  • Contribute to and demonstrate a commitment to the Universities mission;
  • Have significantly improved customer service or increased customer satisfaction for specific University customers;
  • Have significantly improved a work process or system or have significantly increased the efficiency of an operation or department;
  • Have demonstrated an exceptional ability to foster collaboration, communication, and cooperation among colleagues and University constituents;
  • Have performed at a level above and beyond normal job requirements.
  • Nomination must be for a minimum of two employees. Individual employees cannot be considered for this award.

Once the Recognition Review Committee has made its recommendations, the respective Vice Presidents will make the final selection decisions. An award will be presented to each individual or group at the Annual Employee Recognition Luncheon on April 9, 2013.
