Mathematics and Computer Science (MACS) Collaborative at Bridgewater State University

 

2012-2013 MACS Seminar Series 

Theme: "Rejuvenating Mathematics Instruction to Meet the New Standards".

 

The Mathematics and Computer Science (MACS) Collaborative provides professional development for mathematics educators in Southeastern Massachusetts. MACS is pleased to announce our seminar offerings for the 2012-2013 school year.  Space is limited, so be sure to register and send payment by October 24.  Sessions at four grade spans (PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 8-12) are being offered for each seminar. Calculators may be used during the sessions; please bring your own grade appropriate calculator.

 

Participants will be engaged in activities that will enhance their own understanding of each session topic. The instruction will model pedagogy that can be used to develop students' proficiency with the mathematics.

 

Seminar Dates:

Seminar 1 - Thursday, November 8, 2012
Seminar 2 - Thursday, January 10, 2013
Seminar 3 - Thursday, March 14, 2013
Seminar 4 - Thursday, April 11, 2013
Make-up Date (if needed) – Thursday, May 9, 2013
 

 

NOTE: The registration and payment due date is October 31, 2013.  To receive a block of 10 or more PDPs from Bridgewater State University participants must attend at least three out of the four seminars.

All sessions located at Bridgewater State University

3:30 pm  -  Registration in one of the following locations:

     Dunn Conference Suite, Crimson Hall for Seminars 1, 2, & 4
     3rd floor of Rondileau Campus Center for Seminar 3
4:00 pm  -  Welcome and Announcements

4:10 - 7:00 pm  -  Sessions

7:00 - 8:00 pm  -  Dinner and Closing (Part of Program for PDPs)

Cost:

• $50 per session or $175 for all four sessions

      (The full time undergraduate student rate is $25 per session with ID card)
