Research Experiences for
Undergraduates
REUs are
among the most prestigious activities that undergraduates can undertake over
the summer. These programs, held at universities across the country, are
often funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and provide a
stipend of $3000-5000, usually with free or low-cost campus housing. Most REUs
are in the sciences, but there are programs in a wide variety of disciplines
(for instance, anthropology). Most of the application deadlines are between
late January and March.

Massachusetts Space Grants
Want to earn
$4,500 this summer? Can you envision a 2013 summer research project that
meets the goals of NASA? Can you imagine a project that uses data from a
NASA mission? Then consider a NASA Space Grant Consortium summer
research proposal.
Last year, 4 BSU students were awarded
these grants and earned $4,500 each for 10 weeks of work. Contact
Dr.
Martina Arndt (Physics)
for application materials, which are due to Dr. Arndt by April 16. You
are encouraged to contact Dr. Arndt
with questions, including whether a project would be appropriate for
this program.
