Benedicta "Bennie" Agbarha is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Secondary Education and Professional Programs.  She earned her Ed.D. in School Administration, Planning, and Policy from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell .  Dr. Agbarha's professional areas of interest include educational leadership, educational research and evaluation, equity in education, and conflict management.  Dr. Agbarha is a full-time faculty member at Bridgewater State University and teaches: Systems Planning for Educational Leaders, Curriculum Design and Improvement, Legal and Ethical Issues in Educational Leadership, and Communication between and among stakeholders.

Dr. Bodi is an active researcher and successful teacher in the fields of history and philosophy of education as well as assessment and evaluation of learning.  After almost twenty years in public and private schools as a classroom teacher and school principal "JM" earned his doctorate at the University of Texas in Austin.  Since that time he's been active in educational politics as teaching in higher education.

Tom comes to Bridgewater State University after ten years of teaching high school mathematics in Connecticut and Massachusetts.  In addition, he taught mathematics and education courses as an adjunct prior to joining the Secondary Education and Professional Programs faculty.  Tom has a bachelor of arts' degree in Mathematics from Central Connecticut State University, a master of arts' degree in Instruction and Curriculum from Saint Joseph College and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.

Dr. Phyllis Gimbel has enjoyed a lengthy career in the public education system, serving as middle school principal, foreign language department chair, and central office superintendent intern and French and Spanish teacher.  For the past four years, she has served as Coordinator of a multi university-school collaborative. Phyllis received her doctorate in School Leadership from UMASS Lowell in 2001, a Master's in Education from Harvard University, and a Master's in French from Columbia University.  She has published a book entitled, "Solutions for Promoting Principal-Teacher Trust," Rowman and Littlefield, 2003, which is based on the topic of her dissertation.

Anne Hird is an Associate Professor in the Department of Secondary Education and Special Programs.  She coordinates and teaches in the Instructional Technology program. Hird, author of  Learning from Cyber-Savvy Students: How Internet-Age Kids Impact Classroom Teaching, describes herself as living with one foot on the ground and one foot in "cyberspace."  She has worked with computer technology in schools since 1982.  Her experience ranges from teaching in the Providence Public Schools to directing the $1.1 million Library Power grant across 27 elementary and middle schools.  Most recently, she has spearheaded the effort to move the Instructional Technology M.Ed. to a fully Web-based degree program.  Anne holds degrees from Brown University, Simmons College, and the University of Rhode Island-Rhode Island College.

Chris arrived at Bridgewater State University in 2008 after 43 years in public education as a high school teacher/coach, superintendent, and college professor. He received his doctorate in educational leadership from Montana State University in 1987. His career has included work in Montana, Idaho, and Massachusetts. While serving as superintendent of the Bellingham (MA) school district from 2002-2008, he was also a Visiting Lecturer for BSU in the areas of school law, the superintendency, and public relations. Chris teaches courses in beginning and advanced law, school finance, personnel, and the superintendency, and serves as coordinator of the LEAD Program.

Stephen J. Nelson is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Bridgewater State College and a Senior Scholar in the Leadership Alliance at Brown University.  Professor Nelson teaches in the Educational Leadership Program in the Department of Secondary Education and Professional Programs concentrating on questions and issues of leadership, organizational culture, behavior and dynamics, and educational research. He guides the development and implementation of C.A.G.S. student research projects and collaborates with Graduate Research Assistants on student-initiated research studies, articles, publications, and professional presentations.
Professor Nelson is the author of four books about the college presidency: Decades of Chaos and Revolution: Showdowns for College Presidents (2012), Leaders in the Crossroads: Success and Failure in the College Presidency (2009), Leaders in the Labyrinth: College Presidents and the Battleground of Creeds and Convictions (2007), Leaders in the Crucible: The Moral Voice of College Presidents (2000), as well as numerous scholarly articles.  Prior to his career as a professor, he was a college student affairs administrator at Wellesley, Dartmouth and Bard Colleges where he was the Dean of Students.  While Professor Nelson’s work focuses on the college presidency, he maintains broad interests in the field of educational leadership, especially in higher education, in organizational culture and theory, and in general issues of leadership in the public and private sector. Professor Nelson holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Connecticut, a Masters of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School, a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from the Hartford Seminary, and an A.B. in history from Gettysburg College.

Thanh T. Nguyen is an Associate Professor in the Instructional Technology Ed.M. Program.    She earned her doctorate in Learning and Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  Before coming to the Bridgewater State University, Dr. Nguyen served as Associate Vice President of the Society for Technology Information and Teacher Education (SITE) Information Technology Council, Technology Leader for the Great Cities Universities (GCU), Urban Educator Corps Partnership Institute, Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3), Lecturer, University Supervisor and Chairwoman of the Technology in Education Committee at UMass Boston Graduate College of Education, online trainer for the WIDE World's Harvard University online courses, and Instructional Leadership Team Consultant, Boston-Harvard Leadership Development Initiative for the Whole School Change, Harvard School Partnerships.  Currently, her research interests involve designing curriculum for Information Age learners.  In the transformation from Industrial Age to Information Age, Dr. Nguyen encourages teachers to rethink and redesign curriculum for active learning with the use of digital information and global communication environments.   Teachers need to redefine the requirements and skills for the global community and its marketplace in the twenty-first century.

As an Associate Professor, Lynne Yeamans facilitates undergraduate and graduate learning challenges for prospective middle school (5-8) and high school (8-12) teacher candidates.  She brings to the college programs her extensive K – 12 public school experiences as a teacher and a leader in education.  She holds degrees from Bridgewater State University, Smith College, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
