Faculty Advising Coordinators (FAC)

The FAC provide development opportunities for faculty academic advisors in all disciplines, with a specific focus on effective advising practices for Project Compass cohort students (first-generation, low income, and students of color)

Faculty Advising Coordinators

The coordinators are a resource for individuals and departments, collaborating in the creation and facilitation of presentations, workshops, programs, and reference materials related to academic advising.

Services

  • Programming.  In collaboration with Project Compass and the Office of Teaching and Learning, the FAC offer programming designed to address the particular issue of advising for full-time faculty.  Programs include workshops and departmental presentations.
  • One-on-one consultation.  The FAC are available to work with individual faculty members seeking to strengthen and reflect on their advising practice.
  • Reference materials.  The FAC created an Advising Guide for easy reference to the wide range of services offered at BSU that might benefit advisees.  This guide is available both as a booklet and electronically.  The FAC have also assembled a small library of materials on academic advising available in the Office of Teaching and Learning for the use of all faculty.

The FAC initiative is funded by Project Compass
