Chemical Sciences

The Department of Chemical Sciences offers programs leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. These programs are designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare students for successful careers in the chemical, pharmaceutical or biotech industries for chemical research, teaching, oceanography and environmental science or for further study in graduate degree programs and professional schools.

The Chemical Sciences Department at BSU is a small, close-knit community of students, teachers, mentors and scholars. Our Bachelor of Science programs in Professional, Environmental, and Biochemistry are certified by the American Chemical Society. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes and the individual attention that our students receive both in the classroom and the laboratory. Undergraduate research is an integral part of the program. Each faculty member is actively engaged in research alongside our students. This type of attention, which can be rare at the larger "research oriented" universities, provides our students with a learning environment that is unique among public institutions.
