New program brings undergraduate research to underserved students
BSU’s English Department Indulges Your Love of Reading and Writing with a Degree That Opens Real Doors
Do you love literature and creative writing? Do you dream of earning an English degree that translates into marketable skills across a wide variety of careers? BSU’s Department of English offers four undergraduate English program concentrations that allow you to tailor your experience with a creative writing degree, English literature degree, English education degree or general writing program. We also offer five English master’s degree program options.
BSU English degree graduates go on to careers in education, business, marketing, media and publishing, or they matriculate in our graduate English degree or our Master of Arts in teaching degrees. We also offer an accelerated joint BA/MA program.
Our English program helps prepare you for future careers with experiential learning opportunities such as:
- Taking part in student publishing. Our award-winning literary and arts journal, The Bridge, affords English degree students opportunities to gain editing and publishing skills.
- Meeting famous writers. Each semester, we host an evening with a current published author.
- Intensive study via BSU’s honors program. The honors program affords opportunities for scholarly research, which builds resumes and prepares you for advanced degree work.
