Geological Sciences

Make a BSU geology degree the bedrock of your career

Geology is a broad and fascinating discipline, combining the principles of physics, chemistry, biology, math and computer science. When you earn your geology degree in the Department of Geological Sciences at Bridgewater State University, you’ll study the changing composition, materials, properties, physical processes and history of Earth and other planets.

A BSU degree in geology can prepare you for geology degree jobs and careers in geophysics, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and oceanography. You could also go on to graduate school.

  • Choose from four majors. We offer two degrees in geology, an earth sciences degree and a degree in environmental geosciences.
  • Gain experience while you study. In the geology program, you can complete an internship that will enhance your job and research skills. You may also engage in lab and field research and potentially present your work at professional conferences like the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society of America.
  • Get involved in our geological society. The BSU Geological Society is for any student interested in geology. While earning your geology degree, you will have the chance to embark on regional, national and international field trips, and you may qualify for Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the national earth science honor society.
