Double Major with Elementary Education, Early Childhood, or Special Education
1. Students with these double majors will need to fulfill the regular English major requirements. Not the English Education concentration. Because much of the coursework for Early Childhood and Elementary Education takes place in a block prior to student teaching, double majors should work quickly to meet the English requirements before senior year.
2. Elementary Education majors must have English coursework in American, British and World literatures. Non-English majors may take EN 254: Literature for Elementary Education. Double majors in English do NOT need to take EN 254; they should choose a course in world literature (EN 211, 253, 255, 377, 497 or an appropriate topics course) to meet this requirement.
