Sarah
McQuarrieSarah H. McQuarrie currently serves as the primary music education faculty member at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Sarah earned the BA in Music Education with a concentration in piano from Castleton State College, the MM in Music Education from The University of Maine, and with the acceptance of her dissertation on state-wide assessments, will this year earn her DMA in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. Prior to joining the Massachusetts State University System, Sarah taught at Castleton State College in Vermont where she served as director of their music education lab school, a professor of Music Education, and CMENC Advisor. Before transitioning to higher education full-time, Sarah taught for ten years in both urban and rural school systems.
As a pianist, Sarah McQuarrie
regularly performs throughout the United States and Europe accompanying the
Castleton Collegiate Chorale, the Bangor Theological Seminary Festival Choir,
and for several state and regional high-school music festivals. Most recently
she performed at the Nymburk International Music Festival in the Czech Republic.
As a researcher she has regularly presented at the Arts Assessment Summer
Institute (sponsored by participating New England Departments of Education),
multiple state MENC conferences, and her innovations with lab-school curriculums
received attention at the International Piano Pedagogy Conference.
