One Book One Community, a partnership between Bridgewater State College and Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School hosted a bonfire and banned books reading on the evening of Oct. 2, at the volleyball pit adjacent to East Hall.
This year, Banned Books Week was celebrated from Sept. 27 through October 4, and in an effort to celebrate the annual event participants from the college and town read from banned and challenged books.
Readers included members of the BSC community, teachers and students from B-R, and local residents. Books ran the gamut from the last of the Harry Potter books to classics such as
To Kill a Mockingbird and
Lady Chatterley's Lover.
BSC Librarian
Pam Hayes-Bohanan said the event was meant to honor all the books we have the right to read, as well as the freedom of others to have their opinions about them. (Story and photo submitted)
