A Message From the Dean

dean

Welcome to the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics at Bridgewater State University. I encourage you to look at who we are and what we do, with the assurance that you’ll see things that are truly remarkable. We offer an unusually good education in the sciences and mathematics that rivals what you will find at the best schools in the country.

The faculty is excellent and dedicated to the success of our students. Professors not only excel as teachers in the classroom, they serve as mentors for our students, guiding them in research projects that prepare them well for employment or admission to the best graduate schools in the country. We are housed in the brand new Science and Mathematics Center, a stunning new facility designed to create the best possible environment for our students.

Of particular note are our research facilities. Every one of the research labs is created with the students in mind, including the best instrumentation available. Our students use equipment that is commonly only available in graduate schools. In the sciences, this makes all the difference and allows our students to conduct very sophisticated research. That results in an education that goes significantly beyond the ordinary. “Expect More. Achieve More.” is alive and well in the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics.

I also want to direct your attention to our preK-12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach projects.  Most of our projects are housed in the Center for the Advancement of STEM Education. As the oldest permanently sited teachers’ college in the nation, we feel it’s important to do what we can to prepare public school teachers to do an excellent job and maintain students’ interests in STEM fields.  Last year our faculty in CASE had direct contact with approximately 10,000 preK-12 students and approximately 350 teachers.
