Nobel Prizes Explained 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The Center for the Advancement of STEM Education and the Center for Advancement of Research and Scholarship at Bridgewater State University cordially invite you to Nobel Prizes Explained on Monday, November 2nd from 4:00-6:00 PM in the Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center Auditorium. BSU Faculty members in each of the Nobel Prize categories will explain, discuss and entertain questions on the recently announced prizes in Chemistry, Economics, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology/Medicine. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

Now Dr. Cindy Kane, BSU’s director of student involvement and leadership, has collaborated on a new book aimed at highlighting the contributions of student organization advisers and helping them learn from one another.

Dr. Sandra Faiman-Silva, professor emeritus of anthropology, travelled to Taita, on the coast of Kenya, in early September to deliver donations to Kungu Primary School. Dr. Agnes Mwamb'ombe, who was instrumental in developing BSU's exchange partnership with the University of Nairobi, attended this school. 

New Horizons

As a first-generation college student Berlinda Batista is blazing new trails. Born and raised in Boston, she is the first in her family of four sisters and three brothers to attend college, and the first to pursue a career in the sciences. A senior majoring in mathematics with a minor in actuarial science, Ms. Batista plans to graduate in the spring of 2016 and explore career possibilities.

The 2015 Alumni Awards Dinner was held on Friday evening, September 25, in the Rondileau Campus Center, with Jason Stocker, ’04, president of the Bridgewater Alumni Association presiding along with Eugene Durgin, chairman of BSU’s Board of Trustees.

Campus Hosts China Town Hall

Dr. Vanessa Fong, professor of anthropology at Amherst College, was the featured speaker at a China Town Hall program in the lecture hall of the Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center on Monday evening, part of a local and national exploration of China-US relations.
