Upcoming Meetings of the Old Colony Crossroads Collaborative:

The next two OCCC meetings will connect Collaborative members to important resources. On March 20, Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister will provide an update on the recent investments and programs offered by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. Learn about their tax incentives, grants, equipment loan programs, workforce development and other tools to attract and retain life sciences businesses in our region.  March 20, 10-11:30 AM in the Heritage Room at Maxwell Library on the the campus of Bridgewater State University.
 
On April 24, Lynn Tokarczyk of  Business Development Strategies, Inc will offer valuable, up-to-date information on "Government Incentives for Real Estate Expansions." Her program will include a case study of an important area company that expanded its operations successfully allowing it to remain in the area. April 24, 7:30-9:00 AM, Location TBA.

September 22, 2011: Advising with Manassah Bradley of the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network, Harrington Hall, BSU

The Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network (MSBDC) is expanding its outreach in Southeastern MA, bringing free in-depth advising, low cost training, and capital access to small businesses. Beginning in August, Senior Business Advisor Manassah Bradley will meet with clients regularly at Bridgewater State University (BSU), available the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

November 1, 2011: Bootstrapping - or how to start a business without Piles of Cash! Heritage Room, Maxwell Library, 7-10 pm.

This fantastic case study of bootstrapping will discuss the pluses and minuses of starting a business with very little cash. Dave Henchy, Co-President of Harvest Delivery Inc., will discuss how bootstrapping can be used to sustain a new business. Henchy has over 25 years experience in online media, hospitality, and higher education. He has not only written about but also lived the bootstrapping experience and has a passion for opening companies. This combination makes him an effective speaker on this topic.
 

Panelists will address bootstrapping from the perspective of leadership, finance, and operations. They are as follows:

Rochelle Nemrow is the President and Founder of FamilyID,  a Weston based company which provides centralized online program registration to families. She has over 25 years experience as an entrepreneur and marketer. She has been involved in all aspects of business, from inception to acquisition, and has consulted with dozens of companies on their business and marketing strategies and implementation.

Alan Adams is the President of Galaxy Advisors, a Franklin based consulting services company. For over 35 years in business he held many positions in large and medium-sized companies including Treasurer, Controller, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Owner/Director. Now in semi-retirement after selling his own company to a large acquisition group he is turning his attention to teaching, writing, investing, lecturing, and consulting for start-up entrepreneurs.
