Course-Embedded Research Grants for Faculty

Deadline for Fall 2013: Friday, October 11.

Course-Embedded Research Grants are available to all full- and part-time faculty teaching an undergraduate course at Bridgewater State University. Each grant of up to $500 supports an innovative research or creative assignment required of all students in the course; it provides reimbursement to the faculty member for the class' travel to an off-campus research site or for approved supplies/equipment that are not covered by department budgets.

Questions about which types of expenses are reimbursable with a Course-Embedded Research Grant can be directed to Kathy Frederick (kfrederick@bridgew.edu; ext. 2303) or Jenny Shanahan (jenny.shanahan@bridgew.edu; ext. 2764) in the Office of Undergraduate Research. Please note that Course-Embedded Research Grants cannot be awarded for class field trips unless there is a specific research purpose for the trip.  Course-Embedded Research Grants are no longer needed for poster printing for the Mid-Year Symposium (MYS); the Office of Undergraduate Research is paying for all student posters for MYS.

Faculty who are awarded a Course-Embedded Research Grant should have the students share the results of the assignment with the campus community, such as at BSU's Mid-Year Symposium in December or the Undergraduate Research Symposium in April. Students are welcome to present as a whole class, individually, or in small groups, in the format that makes most sense for the project (e.g., poster, formal talk, table display, performance, or video).
