Departmental Honors in Political Science

Advanced Political Science majors may want to consider the department's Honors Program.  This program allows students to pursue their own academic research under the supervision of a faculty mentor.  In the past, students have presented their research at the Annual Meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association in Chicago, IL and the BSU Undergraduate Research Symposium.  Student research culminates in the completion of an Honors Thesis, which has been integral to the success of our graduates' admission to graduate school.  Our students have recently been accepted into programs at the University of Michigan, the University of Georgia, the University Houston, and the University of California at Davis.  Many of our students have successfully applied for ATP Semester and Summer Grants to financially support their research.

Interested students should fill out the Application for Admission to Departmental Honors which is available in the Honors Center.  For admission, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and have completed at least twelve credit hours in Political Science with a minimum GPA in the major of 3.5.  This form and any inquiries should be directed to Dr. Brian Frederick (brian.frederick@bridgew.edu) in the department of Political Science.
