Faculty and Advisors

Increase your sphere of influence through global engagement

The BSU Study Abroad Office recognizes that BSU faculty, advisors, and staff are some of our best allies in helping BSU students to understand the importance of having an international experience during their college career and in publicizing our programs to students. Toward that end, we are happy to provide the following resources to our colleagues:

New Program Development

The BSU Study Abroad Office, in conjunction with the Center for International Engagement, is happy to assist our colleagues in any BSU academic unit who wish to establish new international opportunities for their students.  With the CIE and External Affairs, we are equipped to support the creation of new Exchange, Partnership and Faculty Directed Study Tours.  Please contact us at any time to express your interest in initiating a new study abroad program, based on the information provided below.

Developing Faculty-Led Study Tours

Faculty-led Study Tours usually range in length from 2 to 3 weeks and are typically offered during the Winter break or Summer Sessions.  Any BSU faculty member who wishes to propose and develop a Faculty Directed study abroad program should complete a Study Tour Proposal at least a year in advance.

The Office of Study Abroad Director is available to discuss new program ideas and respond to questions about any new program proposal. All new programs must be reviewed and approved by both the leadership of the initiator's academic unit and by the Study Abroad Office.  New faculty information sessions are held twice a year.  A Faculty Leader's handbook is available upon request.

Study Tour Proposal Application Deadlines (for faculty leaders):

  • For academic year 2013-2014 winter programs the proposal deadline is February 1, 2013
  • For academic year 2013-2014 summer programs the proposal deadline is March 1, 2013

Developing Exchange and Partnership Programs

Any BSU faculty member who wishes to propose and develop a new Exchange or Partnership program should contact BSU External Affairs, The Center for International Engagement, or Office of Study Abroad  to request a new program meeting. All new programs must be reviewed and approved by External Affairs, the leadership of the initiator's academic unit, and by the Center for International Engagement.
