Madhusudana N. Rao obtained his PhD in Geography from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, USA, and is a Professor in the Department of Geography at Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Presently, he is also serving as the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Studies Program at BSU. His research interests lay at the intersection of technology and regional development vis-à-vis education as they relate to emerging economies. He has published in scholarly journals and presented research papers at major national and international conferences around the world. He received research grants from federal and state agencies in the USA and consulted for various academic and business organizations including the United Nations. Recently, he was the principal investigator for the latest research grant, “Pathways to the Middle East & North Africa”, received from the U.S. Department of Education, for $375,268 for two years (2020–2022), Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Program, CFDA # 84.016A.
