Dr. Patey was born and raised in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He joined BSU in Fall 2020. He completed his PhD at the University of South Carolina in Physical Education Pedagogy with a focus on Adapted Physical Education. His research interests are predominantly housed in the field of APE, while primarily utilizing qualitative methodologies. Dr. Patey competed as a collegiate freestyle wrestler throughout his early university career, before transitioning into a coaching role at Memorial University of Newfoundland. In his spare time he likes to train in grappling sports and hike.
