For over three decades, Dr. Kreiling taught music history, comprehensive musicianship, class piano, music fundamentals, and seminars on “Music of the Sea” and “Words and Music.” Before coming to Bridgewater State University, Dr. Kreiling taught music at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, NC) and English at Western Carolina University (Cullowhee, NC). She has sung with the Asheville (NC) Symphony Chorus, the Greensboro (NC) Symphony Chorus, and Musica Sacra (Cambridge, MA), and she has performed occasionally as a pianist. Dr. Kreiling's articles on intersections between music and literature have appeared in several academic journals, and she has given presentations at interdisciplinary conferences in London, Edinburgh, Toronto, Honolulu, and elsewhere. A prize-winning poet, Dr. Kreiling is the author of two poetry collections, Arts & Letters & Love (2018) and The Truth in Dissonance (2014). Her poetry appears frequently in print and online journals and in anthologies; she is a past winner of the Able Muse Write Prize for Poetry, the Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters Sonnet Prize, the Kelsay Books Metrical Poetry Prize, a Lyric Quarterly Prize, a Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest Laureates’ Prize, three New England Poetry Club prizes, the Plymouth Poetry Prize, and the String Poet prize.
