Dr. Beverly Lovett began her career in social work in the child welfare system. Her work with vulnerable children, families and communities led her to pursue a graduate degree in social work where she continued her career in inpatient and outpatient child mental health services. Dr. Lovett’s clinical practice included specialty programs for sexually abused children and non-offending parents. Dr. Lovett joined the faculty in the School of Social Work at BSU in 1996. She enjoys teaching practice and theory courses, as well as research methods. Dr. Lovett has held the position of interim department chair and currently serves as the BSW program coordinator. Dr. Lovett enjoys mentoring and advising students as they proceed in their journey toward becoming professional social workers. As a first generation college student, she understands some of the experiences which may coincide with this status.
Her scholarship is published in the International Journal of Child Abuse & Neglect, The Journal of Adolescent & Child Social Work, the Journal Affilia and the New Social Worker.
