Playwright, director, producer Lisa Rafferty creates documentary plays which celebrate the strength and resiliency of heroic women and men, and writes comedies about motherhood, seen around the world. These include ONWARD –Votes for Women, honoring the fight for women’s suffrage, commissioned by the Associates of the Boston Public Library. With Joey Frangieh, she created Boston Theater Company’s FINISH LINE, about the 2013 Boston Marathon, world premiere at the Shubert Theatre. Also with Boston Theater Company, she directed A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM for the Education Tour and curated the premiere of the QUEER VOICES 10-minute play festival. Her show about First Lady Betty Ford - SHE DID ALL THAT - appeared at Boston Playwrights Theater and in Michigan through the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation. Her comedies – The MOMologues (1, 2 and 3), published by Concord Theatricals - have appeared in 26 states and six countries. She worked with composers in Boston, New York and Tel Aviv to create MOMologues the Musical, seen in NYC, Boston, and soon in LA. Lisa is the producing director of the Elliot Norton Awards and teaches theater at Bridgewater State University. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times and The Boston Globe, and she is a frequent keynote speaker at area conferences. She is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
