Inclement Weather – Campus Closed

Details for our campus community in the event of a closure

Students

When BSU closes, all classes are canceled, and university offices are closed, except the Central Steam Plant, BSU Police Department, and Facilities Management Department, which remain open. The Bear’s Den and East Campus Commons dining will be open during their normal operating hours for dining services during closings. If BSU is closed for more than one day, arrangements may be made to open additional facilities to provide student activities.

If the BSU is closed during a scheduled exam period, information on new exam dates will be available through the Registrar’s Office on BSU Mobile, the Student Portal, and the University’s homepage as soon as possible.

Faculty/Staff

When BSU closes, all classes are canceled, and university offices are closed, except the Central Steam Plant, BSU Police Department, and Facilities Management Department, which remain open. Non-essential employees normally scheduled to work – either on-campus or remotely – will be compensated as if they had worked during those time periods. Employees who had requested sick time or vacation leave will be required to record those hours as such. Other than designated essential university personnel, all other faculty and staff are discouraged from coming to campus to allow for proper storm cleanup and employee safety.

Essential Employees

Essential employees are required to report to or to remain at work regardless of university closings or delayed openings. For clarification, the hours of the day of an event are 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. These times are relevant for essential employees working second and third shifts.

Visitors/Events

When BSU closes, events are canceled unless circumstances demand otherwise, and the requisite level of support is available.
