The annual Baskets of Love toy and gift collection for needy area families was once again a great success. Enough gifts were collected to help brighten the holidays for 60 families.
During Tuesday’s holiday luncheon alone, more than 90 gifts were collected for the drive.
In addition to toys for the youngsters, dishes, pots, pans and kitchen utensils were also collected.
The annual drive is organized by the members of Jumpstart. Families chosen to receive the gifts have children enrolled at one of Jumpstart’s six preschool program partners in the Brockton area. Many of the families are experiencing homelessness or other hardships.
Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community corps members to serve preschool children in under resourced neighborhoods.
