Dr. Elizabeth Englander, a psychology professor and executive director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center, spoke with NBC 10 Boston and The Sun Chronicle about children's use of technology and social media.

The Cabo Verde men's national basketball team spent several days at BSU as the team prepares for the FIBA World Cup in Japan. The Enterprise covered a practice and scrimmage held in the Tinsley Center and open to the public.

BSU President Frederick W. Clark Jr., '83, co-wrote a column for Commonwealth Magazine about efforts to "cultivate a cybersecurity ecosystem focused on educating Massachusetts’ next generation of frontline cybersecurity experts to protect vulnerable institutions."

The Boston Herald quoted Dr. Lisa Battaglino, a current BSU trustee and retired dean, in a story about challenges facing rural school districts. Battaglino serves on the state’s Commission on the Fiscal Health of Rural School Districts.

Dr. Michele Meek, an assistant professor of communication studies, wrote an article for Ms. magazine about director Michelle Danner and her film Miranda’s Victim. The film tells the story of the victim in the case that led to the requirement that police read a suspect their rights upon arrest (the Miranda warning). Meek also recorded an episode of the Academic Minute podcast about her book, Consent Culture and Teen Films: Adolescent Sexuality in US Movies.

Massachusetts media covered two aspects of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders at BSU. WCVB reported on the fellows’ community service with Dress a Girl Around the World. The Sun Chronicle highlighted a session in which the group learned about an inmate reentry program.

The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences wrote about research conducted by biological sciences Professor Joseph Seggio and several students about exposure to bright light at night. Dr. Seggio collaborated with Julie Michaud, Caitlin Waring, Fernanda Medeiros Contini, Meredith Burns, Janessa Quintana, Hannah Deane and Holly Concepcion (all now alumni), and current student John Price on the project.

BSU professors Jabbar Al Obaidi and Madhu Rao wrote an article in The Jordan Times about the 14th International Conference on Education: Navigating Future Strategies for Advancing Education and Interdisciplinary Perspectives. BSU faculty, staff and students presented at the conference, which was held in Jordan. 

In editorials about the need for school districts and municipalities to be better protected from cyber attacks, The Boston Globe cited BSU's cybersecurity initiative as a "promising" program and "a potential game changer for municipalities." The initiative includes academic programs, training and threat monitoring.
