Executive Leadership Institute
ABOUT ELI
The Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) is a transformational leadership program designed for aspiring senior executives identified and sponsored by their presidents for senior roles in public higher education in New England. The year-long program provides an experiential immersion into contemporary issues in public higher education, leadership in the academy, and mentorship toward a successful executive role.
FORMAT
ELI is offered in a hybrid format—via online and in-person sessions from June to April. ELI incorporates interactive methods for learning and engagement including—panel presentations, keynotes, and small group intensive interaction. Our full and half-day sessions are experiential, interactive, and challenging!
COACHING
ELI participants are provided with a professional coach who supports their learning and works on their individual Plan of Action in a one-on-one and group format. Coaches support our participants' focus on their individual growth and professional development. This relationship works as a partnership where the coach and the participant have a series of guided conversations over the course of the year to discover and implement solutions to achieve the participants' goals. Coaches will be available at each in-person session and will work with participants several times over the year via Zoom. ELI coaches are drawn from a cadre of individuals with specific coaching training and strong experience in public higher education.
INDIVIDUAL PLAN OF ACTION
Each ELI participant crafts an individual Plan of Action in collaboration with their professional coach to support their development and learning activities for the year. The Plan of Action enables each leader to map a pathway toward a Cabinet or other senior role and gain the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to be successful. A key component of the Action Plan will be regular interaction with senior leaders at both the home campus and other institutions.
CLIFTONSTRENGTHS ASSESSMENT
Participants will complete the CliftonStrengths Assessment (included in the program fee) and are provided with a comprehensive guided learning experience that will enable them to discover their unique strengths as higher education professionals. Participants will explore their CliftonStrengths 34 Themes of Talent with their professional coach. ELI aspiring leaders learn what they naturally do best and what they may need help from others to accomplish.
PROGRAM FEE
ELI’s program fee is $2, 995.
This includes curriculum and program materials; continental breakfasts, deluxe lunches, and light refreshments for all in-person sessions. Participants are expected to be supported to attend ELI by their home institution. Tuition excludes hotel accommodations or other travel-related expenses which will need to be made separately.
In an effort to increase accessibility to the Executive Leadership Academy, we are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of partial scholarships to Massachusetts colleges and universities with financial need.
