CASE awards grants to BSU faculty and staff who develop projects that further CASE’s mission to build and support a diverse community of educators and students that promotes STEM interest and literacy both regionally and internationally. Proposed budgets should not exceed $5000. Proposed projects must include a component that engages preK-12 teachers, preK-12 students or members of the community.
We welcome proposals on all topics that are aligned with the mission of CASE. Additionally, this year, we have funds set aside for one community outreach proposal that addresses one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Funded projects are encouraged to partner with the Innovation Grant-funded BSU project to integrate the SDGs into the curriculum and community. The SDGs provide a unifying theme across multiple disciplines for, and in tackling the grand challenges of sustainability. Applicants should consult with any member of the SDG project team before submission: John Kucich (JKUCICH@bridgew.edu), Inkyoung Kim (ikim@bridgew.edu), or Ed Brush (ebrush@bridgew.edu)
To apply, please download the application.
Please submit completed applications to Jennie Aizenman (jaizenman@bridgew.edu) by November 1, 2019. Applicants will be notified of decisions by December 2, 2019.
EarthLab - A Public Learning Space
EarthLab is a spherically shaped digital display system that is manufactured by iGlobe. The system uses a computer and two internal laser projectors to display information on a four-foot diameter sphere. EarthLab features presentations, short films and real time data that pertain to land, oceans, atmosphere, biodiversity, astronomy, human activity and more. The datasets and visual displays are produced by BSU faculty, staff and students for research, coursework, and community outreach; by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) to increase public understanding of the environment; and by other universities and agencies developing data visualization in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and arts.
To view presentations currently on the globe, please visit EarthLab on the first floor of the Science and Mathematics Center, or view from your own computer using the attached database. Please note that the links included in the database will direct you to the Science On a Sphere (SOS) website. Once on the SOS website, please click the “play arrow” under Media Preview on the right hand side of the page. This database will be updated frequently.
