Dr. Shannon Donovan has been teaching undergraduate and graduate finance, entrepreneurship and accounting courses, including Entrepreneurial Consulting, Managerial Finance, Managerial Accounting, Investments, Personal Finance, Real Estate and Capital Budgeting at Bridgewater State University for over fifteen years. Prior to teaching at Bridgewater, she taught at Northeastern University and Lesley College. Her uses of technology in the classroom led her to MyFinanceLab and Pearson Education where she currently authors end-of-chapter exercises in Finance text books, authors and reviews test banks and study guides and serves as a Faculty Advocate. She was awarded the 2007 MCO best online course award for her Managerial Finance course.
Professor Donovan was the co-founder and director of Bridgewater State University's Center for Entrepreneurship from 2006 through 2011. She has presented papers on the effectiveness of business plans in start-up companies in 2008 at the 6th International Conference on Finance in Athens, Greece and at the 20th Annual Conference of Entrepreneurial Finance. She has presented papers on the financial services industry at the Midwest Finance Association, the Eastern Finance Association, and the America Risk and Insurance Association. She also had a paper published in the Journal of Business and Information Technology in 2005.
Dr. Donovan had over ten years of experience in the investment industry before teaching. Her experience includes actuarial work, portfolio management and personal financial planning, including seminars on retirement planning.
She is an active member of various college committees and community organizations. She has been an active member of many local chambers of commerce including South Shore, Metro West and Plymouth where she has made presentations on cash budgeting and projected business statements. She is a member of the Finance Management Association, American Finance Association, the Eastern Finance Association, the American Risk and Insurance Association and the Academy of Management.
