The Department of Communication holds numerous classes and workshops within campus studios and labs providing hands-on experience with production and editing equipment for students.
Digital Media Equipment Studio
The Digital Media Equipment Studio enables communication studies production students to reserve and use Sony digital camcorders and Canon DSLR cameras. This studio also offers a state-of-the-art RED 6K camera, a range of field mounts, supports and rigs, as well as robust field audio equipment and field lighting equipment.
RTV Television Studio
For TV production classes, the department runs a full-featured teaching studio with HD studio cameras, Tricaster Broadcast switching capabilities, and a green screen.
Post-Production Lab
The department’s Post-Production Lab — featuring new iMac computers with M1 chips and Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition and Adobe After Effects — hosts digital media editing and post-production classes. This space is also open to production students who can reserve time in the Lab to edit course projects.
Radio Station
The department’s Radio Production class collaborates with the BSU student-run radio station WBIM. On air since the 1970s and now in a new public-facing space in Rondileau Student Union, the station is run by student managers from across BSU departments.
