Whatever your interests or areas of expertise, you’ll find studio art programs in a range of media at BSU. As a BSU studio art major, you can choose from five studio art degree concentrations through our nationally accredited Department of Art and Art History.

Make and learn in top-notch art facilities

As a BSU studio art major, you’ll have access to our main art building, which features space for graphic design, painting, drawing, printmaking/book arts, ceramics and jewelry/metals. Plus, we house two additional computer labs in Moakley, dedicated spaces for digital and darkroom photography and more.

Exciting hands-on opportunities

In addition to your studio art degree courses, as a studio art major, you can work on The Bridge, our annual student art and literary publication; study abroad; visit museums and galleries in Boston and Providence and pursue internships at galleries, museums and photography agencies.

Flexible studio art programs to suit your schedule

As a studio art major at BSU, you can take classes full or part time, as well as in person, online, or a blend of the two. We also offer our studio art degree courses in the evenings.

As you pursue a degree in studio art at BSU, you’ll learn in classrooms with up to 16 students. This will help facilitate more one-on-one time with your instructors, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with fellow studio art majors.

Focus your studio art bachelor’s degree in one of five areas:

The art education concentration gives you the skills and expertise used by PreK–12 visual art teachers.
The crafts concentration helps you develop and practice skills in ceramics, book arts, metals and more.
The fine arts concentration allows you to dive into painting, sculpture and printmaking.
The graphic design concentration delves into print design, digital imaging and multi-dimensional design, using a mix of hands-on and virtual design methods.
The photography concentration allows you to explore digital photography of today and the darkroom processes of traditional photography.
