Bridgewater State University’s Connect Card Program has been available to off-campus merchants since September 2004. The program has been in operation on campus since August 2000 and has grown in popularity with students and employees. The Connect Card is a multi-purpose card that serves as a debit card that students and employees can currently use at a variety of locations.
The Connect Card allows BSU students and employees to purchase most items such as food, gas, supplies, services, etc. depending on your place of business. All you have to do is accept the Connect Card as form of payment. Off-campus partners currently accepting the Connect Card include: Bridge Mart, CVS Pharmacy, Emma’s Pizza, Lucky Star Gas, MaryLou’s Coffee, Juice Mill, Bridgewater Square Chiropractic and others.
Benefits to Joining
- Captive customers, 12,000 students and employees who live, work and shop in Bridgewater and surrounding areas.
- Students and employees carry their Connect Card at all times.
- Cardholders can only spend these funds where the Connect Card is accepted.
- Free marketing of services/products to the Campus Community through mailings, website, posters, presentations, and word of mouth – organized in the University Services Office.
- The program is simple and convenient and since this is a debit card, merchants do not have to deal with cash.
Equipment/Start Up Cost
The University provides most of the required equipment to run the program. If you would like to participate you will need an internet service provider (ISP) (Verizon, Comcast or other) connection, an open unrestricted port on either your router or network switch and a card reader (PAX A920 w/charging base L920, provided to you by Bridgewater State University).
Payment/Commission
With respect to payments and commissions, no later than the tenth business day of each month, the University will provide you with a report and issue a check made payable to your business for the previous month’s net transaction sales (purchases minus refunds). The University shall earn a commission of 6% on the net amount of all transactions (purchases minus refunds) as compensation for the services furnished by the University. The Commission will be subtracted from each monthly payment made to the merchant.
